We climbed to 2,600′ feet crossing the Blue Ridge Parkway, just before descending into the campground.

and followed the outflow
to an Amphitheater.
There was a cute little free library that included a chimney.
The main draw to the park is a protected swim beach with a stone bathhouse.
Restrooms and showers were old, but clean.
Our site was level with a fire pit, picnic table, fish cleaning table and nice shade.

We would certainly stay here again, but would come from the north to avoid the steep grade crossing the Blue Ridge Parkway.
