Traveled east from Sudbury to North Bay, Ontario stopping at a few museums along the way.
We slept well at Timberwolf Golf Resort in Subury. Go back to yesterday’s post for more photos of this really nice Harvest Host.
I did a second take when an early patron was followed across the parking lot by his golf bag. We live next to a golfing community at home and hadn’t seen these before.

Tim Horton’s – Pulled in to pick-up some Donuts & Bagels
Unfortunately, they are closed on weekends
The museum grounds border the Sturgeon river. A small craft boat launch and a wetlands trail are available.
The falls are dammed, so there was nothing natural to see. It was a sad looking little town.
Departed Sturgeon Falls at 1155
Made lunch here and enjoyed a good view of the lake.
While not a Great Lake, at 337 square miles, it still reaches the horizon. Looking in Wikipedia after our visit, we learned that the average depth is only fifteen feet, so boaters need to watch for frequent sandbars.

A welcoming museum dedicated to teaching about the history of guarding northern skies.
There was a NORAD underground base operating here through 2006. The three story complex is 60 stories beneath the surface.
Here’s a link to more about the underground complex.
This facility is one of many early warning centers defending North America. Zoom in on the map to see where others are located.
Entrance was by donation.
We found it to be a fascinating stop with engaged and helpful staff.
Boondocker’s Welcome Host “Hollywood on the Lake” was our destination and overnight retreat.
Live entertainment was provided by a brood of Northern Mergansers paddling around the dock with their mom.
The hosts were very welcoming and we enjoyed exchanging travel stories.
We appreciate them opening their delightful property to boondockers.
