Fridge DC Mode Troubleshooting

2018 Lexor TS Refrigerator Troubleshooting

Our Dometic RML 8330 UL fridge wasn’t working on 12 Volt DC. This had happened a couple of years ago and it was a non-working circuit breaker. This time we traced it to the DC 12V 30A relay.

We followed the power to the relay with a multimeter.

Access the area from the outside lower vent.

The 30 amp circuit wasn’t closing, but there was 12 volts to the control leads when we switched the control dial to DC.

The relay is screwed to the back of the fridge.

It was easy to change as all the wires have slip-on spade terminals.

Found a replacement online at Panther RV Products and it arrived from across the country in 3 days. The part info is:

MC Enterprise 2930385006MC Aftermarket Dometic RV Refrigerator Power Relay, just in case anyone else runs into this problem. https://pantherrvproducts.com

The replacement relay isn’t specific to Dometic Refrigerators, so search for this 12 volt / 30 amp relay if you experience a failure on your fridge.

  1. My relay in my 2021 Lexor is chattering so I took it out. It's a 4-pin whereas yours is a 5-pin. My fridge is also an RML 8330.

  2. It turned it wasn't my relay after all – it was a bad connection in the terminal block. When I pulled the wire, it was green on the end. I stripped a bit off, put it back in after discovering that the 12v fridge breaker had popped (the round top-facing set under the ottoman), it was working fine again. So now I have a spare relay to take with me on trips, just in case…

  3. It is difficult to see, but we wired the new relay the same as the old relay.
    Black wire to 87
    Red wire to 30
    Small White wire to 85
Larger White wire with the double connector to 86
The spade in the middle of the relay (also 87) has no wire connected to it.
