Just a few photos to give a flavor of the places, in addition to Pemaquid Point, we visited. Our base in Maine was Aunt Donna’s cabin on Three Mile Pond.
Donna and Mom always seem happier when they are up North in the summer time.
Puzzling is the traditional activity after sunset. Beth and Donna took it seriously.
Supply runs to Hussey’s were always entertaining. Maine’s largest general store has everything from new puzzles to fresh produce. The advertised assortment on their sign gets a chuckle and gives an idea of the variety available. I would have changed the order to cold beer, guns, and wedding gowns.
With multiple trips to the coast, we had to stop for seafood.
Overcast and grey, the harbor was still at the lobster co-op dock.
Low tide revealed an old marine railway still used to launch and retrieve boats for repair.
Lobster that were crawling on the bottom of the Atlantic this morning were headed for this steamer this afternoon.
Not far from the Co-op mom had us detour to Chamberlain, where they owned a cottage back in the 1960’s.
They had named it Sea-Ho and enjoyed it for several years before selling to help purchase a home in northern New York.
Driving around Long Cove Point, she recognized the view, but couldn’t find the building.
We spoke with a local, standing in the road, who said it had just been replaced with this new home.
Back at Three Mile Pond, the weather was perfect for getting out in canoes and kayaks.
While some of us were kayaking, others tried to retrieve things from their car trunk without removing the car cover. An audience applauded when the car owner succeeded in extricating herself from the trunk.
The full moon reflected on the waters of Three Mile Pond on our last night at the cottage.
So long from Maine.
