We’ve left the hustle and bustle of Baltimore for
quiet anchorages where waterfront farms are changing into estates. A chilly and
drizzly Monday morning had us worried about crossing the Bay, but the winds
were on the beam and we were able to sail for a change. We hit eight knots for
a brief time and it felt great. After reaching the Eastern Shore, the Chester
River protected us from the waves. The Corsica is a small tributary of the
Chester where we anchored and enjoyed the quiet. Today we crossed the Bay again
and headed under the Bay Bridge, past Annapolis and into the South River where
Mansions are spaced along the shoreline. There was almost no wind and the bay
was flat calm. We tried three times to set the anchor in the Church river where
the Cruising Guide recommended and decided to try Aberdeen Creek which looked
better on the charts. We’re the only boat anchored in a bay that is surrounded
by huge estates, some with cabanas and gazebos larger than our home in Durham.

We’ve been learning more about the alternator and
tachometer problem. It seems to act up at higher RPM’s and higher heat. It may
just be poor electrical connections. The alternator performance and alarms
appear to be from a bad temperature sensor. Balmar is sending a new sensor and
we’ll try it next week.

Another problem cropped up Monday when the new wi-fi
bridge wouldn’t connect. We contacted the Port Networks folks, but they haven’t
gotten back to us yet. If it really died this quickly, it will be going back to
Baltimore.

We plan to stick around here tomorrow and go over to
St Michael’s this weekend for a rendezvous with other Island Packet owners.
Next week it will be time for the 50 hour service, so we’ll be back in Rock
Hall.
