Is that what I think it is?

While going out to dinner with cousins near Portland, Maine I noticed an unusual looking car in the parking lot.

Propellers under the bumper and the custom license plate confirmed it isn’t just a road vehicle.

The owners made their escape while we were eating dinner, but I did grab a long distance shot before they motored under the bridge and off into the lake. What a cool vehicle. If someone made an amphibious RV, we could combine our love of exploring on land and sea!

A few days later we learned that my Uncle Ernie had been approached by Amphicar in the 1960’s to see if he was interested in becoming a dealer. The company loaned him a car for a long weekend. My cousins remember Ernie taking unsuspecting friends for a ride and surprising them by driving into a Maine lake.
