Stopped in Apalachicola at the Chapman House and garden. The docent shared his passion for the house and family history.

This is the land of cotton.
Lots of monarchs around.
Searching out a place in town for lunch, we wandered up a set of stairs to “Up the Creek” where we were treated to a porch with a view of the ICW. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Binoculars on our table let us view boats and wildlife in the marsh. Houseboats moored next door look like permanent dwellings.
There is plenty of free parking along the Apalachicola Waterfront. We found a bookstore stocking a historical novel Apalachicola Pearl by Michael Kinnett, the aforementioned docent.
St Marks Newport Campground is our spot for tonight, right across the street from the entrance to St Marks Wildlife Refugee.
