Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Bristol Maine USA

06 August 2025

Today we make a loop with Haskell cousins revisiting favorite spots on Maine’s Bristol Peninsula.

Started the day with a tour of renovations cousin Randy and Linda have made to their family cottage in Damariscotta. They’ve done a great job and were happy to share the details with their Aunt Bev.

Next we were off to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park with Mom, Brenda, Beth, Randy, Linda & Katie

Welcome to the edge of Atlantic. Pemaquid light has been serving mariners here since 1827.

All of our family share a special affinity for this part of the coast. Mom & Dad had a cottage nearby in the 1950’s.

We’ve been climbing on rocks and gazing into tidepools here as far back as I can remember.

Linda, Katie, and Randy know where the seats are with the best view and even some shade.

Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf in New Harbor

Looking out into the Gulf of Maine from Shaw’s wharf.
The ferry to Monhegan is the largest boat moored in the harbor today.

Fresh seafood is wonderful here, but the real draw is the pretty harbor.

If you have an extra day, New Harbor is a good jumping off point to visit Monhegan Island via the Hardy Boat ferry.

No day at Pemaquid would be compete without a stop for freshly made ice cream at Round Top in Damariscotta. They’ve been churning and scooping it here since 1924.

Today’s stops have been family favorites for at least three generations.

We all honored another cousin yesterday, at a memorial service in Augusta. We dedicate today’s Pemaquid visit to the life of Pamela Bartlett who we lost this summer to cancer. Pemaquid is a spot that was special to her. We love and miss Pam, especially in this place we enjoyed together.
