The Delaware & Hudson Railroad ran through my home town of Plattsburgh, NY. These are photos I captured in the mid-1970’s of “The Adirondack” passenger trains passing through on their way between New York City and Montreal. A few folks had asked to see the old photos, so here they are.
Southbound Adirondack in Plattsburgh. Dock and Coal freight house in the background.
The Adirondack was usually pulled by Alco PA units painted in a Santa-Fe blue and yellow warbonnet scheme.
The camera was a Pentax Spotmatic II. Developed the film and made prints in our basement darkroom.
Closeup of PA #17.
Riding in the front seat of the dome car from Albany (Rensselaer) to Plattsburgh was a real treat. Here we were entering the tunnel near Willsboro, New York.
North and Southbound trains passing.
PA’s weren’t always on the head end These freshly painted RS36 units pulled an anniversary train.
RS-3 poking its nose out of the Plattsburgh roundhouse.
That’s it for the old black & white prints from our attic.
