Familiar Suroundings

We’re back in our old haunts at Matthew’s Point
Marina, resting up and restocking for the next leg of the trip. Earl &
Karen Quick met us with Southern charts and went home with lots of books that
had been read and other things that we decided weren’t worth the space they
required.  They also delivered a new Honda generator and an inflatable two-person
kayak, the first of which we hope to not need and the other we hope to use
often. Also enjoyed going out to dinner, by car, with the Quicks in Beaufort.
We’re staying here for the week while we do boat projects. So far we have fixed
a couple of cabin lights, moved the dinghy davits out, added an exhaust
flapper, changed the diesel fuel filter,  hooked up the link between the
radio and the computer and started stripping some of the teak toe rail. Our
cool dinghy with the glass “look down” hatch has cracked in less than a year of
gentle use, so we’re investigating how to get that repaired as well. If you are
in the Havelock/Beaufort area this week, give us a call and come visit.
Today’s first photo is of Strayaway Child who accompanied us
from Oriental back to Matthew’s point and was our first neighbor back in 1994
when we first kept a boat on the NC coast.

Noah’s doing school work and enjoying a little bit of
television in the clubhouse.  He and Beth started Hebrew lessons today.
The current bedtime story is the second book in “The Marshrunners” series. They
are interesting children’s books about the Outer Banks in the 1930’s.
