Though trains no longer stop here, the building has been preserved by the Hudson Valley Historical Society. It once served Franklin D. Roosevelt as he traveled on the New York Central between his home in Hyde Park and the governor’s mansion in Albany.
Outside, we learned that, just offshore from here the Hudson River is up to 100 feet deep. The “Poughkeepsie Deepwater” runs for 14 miles downriver. This deep trough has salt water under the fresh surface water allowing marine fish live in this unique environment.

Nice place, with only a few visitors on this chilly, rainy Thursday afternoon.
Enjoyed a good porter and conversation with a couple Scamp owners staying the night. Met a friendly local cigar maker who had good stories about his former occupation as commercial diver. Would definitely return here. There are indoor and outdoor spaces for entertainment and they have lots of musical groups here on weekends.
OCB is part of Harvest Hosts where we, and a couple in their Scamp Trailer, enjoyed a peaceful, rainy overnight stay with this view.
