MDOT Rest Stop provided a pretty Lake Michigan overlook

We had this sandy beach all to ourselves.

The road from here hugged the Lake Michigan shoreline. Beth captured a short video so you can see the wide open views.

1204  48,559  74°  St. Ignace, MI Bridge View Park 

We love to stop at this park whenever we cross between Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas on the Mackinac Bridge. 

“Big Mack” is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. I’ll hold off from posting myriad facts and just provide this link for those that are interested.

The free park has rest rooms, picnic tables, a history display and even a telescope for viewing ships. Lake Huron and Lake Michigan connect here in the Mackinac Straits. A statue is dedicated to the workers that constructed and maintain this critical Michigan connection.

1243  Headed south onto the bridge, leaving the amazing Upper Peninsula behind us.
