We almost forgot to stop here, and are glad the ranger at Seeley Lake told us to be sure and stop to see the Lincoln Grizzly. Just past our campground in Lincoln, we pulled in to see the bear and hear his story. Even if the Ranger Station isn’t open, you can see this grizzly through the large window on the porch.
Today’s drive through Montana is 217 miles from Lincoln to Big Timber via Helena.
An hour down the road, we started winding down out of the mountains.
Roads were good in June, but there are signs of how much snow falls here. The yellow square is suspended over the guard rail to help snowplows know where the guard rail meets the road.
Heading east out of Helena we were, once again, paralleling the BNSF mainline.
Montana is a state with spectacular mountain views.
By two o’clock, we were running straight east and had the road to ourselves.
We knew we had found the right campground as we passed the Big Timber Pleasure-Way RV Rally banner a little after four o’clock.
The boot scraper was out and we started settling in at Spring Creek Campground in Big Timber. We are looking forward to exploring this area and making new friends at the rally.
