Waiting around for FedEx to deliver hasn’t been so bad
since rain has been falling all day. It is a bit irksome that they originally
scheduled us for Friday delivery and didn’t get here until this afternoon.
Matthew’s Point is a relaxing place to wait as there is nothing commercial in
the area. You can see the calm sunset looking up Mitchell Creek in today’s
photo.

We put a couple more snaps on the dodger cover,
defrosted the freezer and added some ABS to the refrigerator lip and Noah did
school work. Since we have our food in the clubhouse freezer, we will
probably stay another day and finish up the refrigerator lining that we started
last May but haven’t worked on while the fridge was full of food. A diver came
by today, so we have a new shaft zinc along with a clean bottom and prop. We
noticed otters in the creek behind the boat. The diver mentioned that there
were three, one of them a pup this Spring. The pup is apparently playful and
enjoyed nipping at the diver as he was working under boats, startling him on
several occasions. He turned tables on the otter and came up under him when he
was floating on the surface eating a fish. Mentioned that the otter jumped what
seemed like two feet out of the water and hasn’t nipped at him since!

Noah is studying famous americans, most recently
Abraham Lincoln, and today argued that kids had the “right” to TV and internet.
He wrote a two page essay with a petition attached or kids and parents to sign
in favor of kids rights. His parents are, obviously, cruel to limit his TV and
internet time. He did get to listen to the first episode of the Red Skelton
Radio show tonight as Beth found downloadable versions of the old radio shows
on the internet. He laughed as much as we did and now knows that “Tide gets
clothes cleaner than soap.” Speaking of washing clothes, our washing
machine in Durham died this week and needs to be replaced. Getting a little
weary of things breaking. Hope this is just a cycle that will soon end.
