Richard’s Fruit Market

Richard’s is a Harvest Hosts host where we will spend this afternoon and tonight. We’re backed in between the market and their home.

Fresh peach milkshakes were a hit. We also stocked our fridge with vegetables and a few pastries for tomorrow’s morning treat.

Met Richard and learned he is preparing for tomorrow’s big Apple Festival.

Animals looked healthy and the pens were well stocked with fresh hay.

Cows and turkeys raised here are eventually available from the market freezer.

All the livestock seemed as interested in looking at us as we were of watching them.

The big red and white barn stands on a hand hewn stone foundation. We forgot to ask when the barn was built, but their family started the market in 1953.

Across the street stands another building whose history we didn’t learn. Looks like it could have been a country store or school.

We appreciated Richard’s hospitality and would recommend this as a good stopping point for fresh food and/or an overnight stay.
