Saint Andrews, New Brunswick

We continued north on Saturday, crossing the border into Canada. Our first reservation was just across the border in Saint Andrews, a cute little town on Passamaquoddy Bay. The campground was crowded and we were three rows in, but could still see the water through our back window.  It was just a quick walk across the street to a picturesque park. Noah surprised us by making dinner and serving ice cream as a treat for our twenty-eighth wedding anniversary. We visited Kingsbrae gardens which were okay, but a let-down after the gardens in Maine the day before. The town was walkable from the campground so we explored the lighthouse, shops and the very long town dock. Tides here are twenty-feet, so the dock had to be long enough to get to deep water at low tide.  The tide was rising as we walked out and when we stood still we could actually see the progress of the water coming in. Noah found a rock on which to sit and read while his parents took pictures of boats and the little lighthouse built in 1833.  He climbed ashore just in time to avoid the rock going awash with boat wakes and the incoming tide.
