While the “Fantastic-Vent” fan in our Lexor provides great airflow and light, there are times when we would like it covered up. We decided to try a Campervan Roof Hatch Cover from an Australian company called Living in a Bubble.
• Why use a vent cover
• How to install a vent cover
• Conclusions

Why would we want to cover the vent?
- To keep out light at night when parked near streetlights.
- To keep heat in when it’s cold outside.
- To keep heat out when the van is parked and the vent isn’t open.

The product is an insulated fabric cover. Secured by magnets, it turned out to be a simple and pleasant addition. The cover is very close in thickness and color to the cab door window covers that came with our 2018 Pleasure-Way Lexor TS.
Installation procedure:

Remove the four screws, one at each outer corner of the frame.

Pull the frame down from the ceiling and this is what remains. Take the opportunity to give the plastic frame a good cleaning.

Lay the cover down on a flat surface with the logo side facing up.

Lay the clean frame on the cover. Next take the magnets and place them around the frame, They will be attracted to the magnets in the cover and “jump” into place.

Tape the magnets in place. We used blue painters tape.

Unscrew and remove the manual vent closing handle. Put is aside where you can find it in case the electric motor ever fails.

Gently remove the vent cover from the frame, then reinstall the frame in the ceiling, and secure it with the original four screws.

Finally, place the vent cover on the fan frame and enjoy the satisfaction of feeling the magnets hold it in place.

If you didn’t remove the handle, the cover won’t seal the opening. **
The shade came with nice extras: a storage bag, a keychain, and a fun sticker.

While the bag is neat, we don’t actually think we will use it because the vent cover can be folded in half ,or into quarters, and still stay mounted to the ceiling.
At $34, I feel it is a good value and a useful addition to our van.
Note: We purchased the shade direct from the company at full price and did not receive any compensation or consideration for this review. We do not get any income if you click the links to the company in this article.
** We did contact the company regarding the fit around the knob and their response was:
Thank you for reaching out to us!
Removing the knob was a great idea. Our current roof vent covers were not designed to accommodate protruding roof hatch handles or knobs just yet, though I can tell you our product design team is already aware of this for future updates.
