Parked alongside the Welland Canal. The canal connects Lakes Erie and Ontario, providing a route around Niagara Falls. While traversing the 27 mile canal, ships pass through eight locks to compensate for the 326 feet change in elevation between the two lakes.
Looking towards Lake Erie to see what was coming in, we noticed two tall masts heading into the canal.
Heading for the lift bridge, the vessel turned towards town…
and ended up docking in front of our van!
High school students were climbing the yardarms and furling the sails. Good balance is required to stand on ropes suspended high in the air.
Looked up the name to learn that sv Fair Jeanne, is a 110 foot Brigantine sail training ship from Ottawa.
We wish the crew bon voyage as they head north to Lake Ontario and their home port of Ottawa.
Enjoyed walking past cute homes and colorful shops paralleling the canal.
Watching ships pass through the canal from this balcony would be a great way to start a day. After looking up the price, we appreciate the van view even more!

Walked around the Arboretum.
Made lunch in the van, then chatted with the crew restoring a statue of “the world’s largest catfish.” Left “Muddy” behind at 1147

After meeting with the host, he directed us down this road to the back of their property.
Greeted by a rainbow as we emerged from the trees, I set out to explore the area.
Homes in this neighborhood all have small hangers and share this common landing strip.
After the rainbow, we were treated to a beautiful sky as the sun set over the fields.
Another Pleasure-Way owner, Sara, pulled in a little later. She’s on her way from Acadia National Park in Maine to Duluth, Minnesota.
State parks don’t offer this much space between sites. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property.
There were actually three Pleasure-Ways on site. The owner has a Plateau!
